My Favorite Products: Lifestyle Images

FACE

My go-to foundation is MAC face and body. Working in advertising in Sothern California, 90% of clients request “natural” make up for lifestyle campaigns. Like most MAC products you will find a good range for skin tones and a choice of cool (pink) or warm (yellow) undertones . Cool undertones are called “N”, warm undertones are called “C”, and skin tone, lightest to darkest, are numbered 1-9. So, a model with very fair skin with cool undertones would use N1.

I use the warm undertones the most. In this image the model is wearing C5. C5 and C4 are my kit workhorses. Translation: I have used C4 or C5 on almost every single shoot I have done in the last 15 years!

HAIR

Working with models with curly hair can be super easy, or super tricky. Often, natural curly hair will have sections that have less defined curl and will need some love with a curling iron. HOT TOOLS are my go-to curling irons. A tapered curling wand offers you a variety of curl sizes so that it is easier to match the natural size of the model’s curl.

You never know what the demands of your next photoshoot are going to be. Sometime you will need the look to last for the entire shot (a full shoot day is 10-12 hours) or sometimes you will need to have flexibility to change the models hair one or more times a day.

For looks that last allllll day, spray each section you curl with Redkin Iron Shape 11 Thermal holding spray. If you are looking for flexible hold that won’t frizz, use Pantene alcohol free hair spray.
